What some of our clients say:
David Warburton Chief Executive Wanganui District Council
“In addition to their direct operational input (over the last twelve months), HWC have taken the initiative in addressing strategic HR issues and are working with Council to develop HR strategies that improve all aspects of the working environment covering training, staff support, performance review, cost/benefit assessment, and projection of future staffing needs. This analytical approach has avoided reactive decisions and has provided WDC with a sound base to budget and plan for a broad HR development programme.
I would not hesitate in recommending HWC to any organisation considering using their services.”
Jeremy Hill Director Innovation and Regulatory Affairs Fonterra Innovation Palmerston North
“I am delighted to be able to provide this testimonial for Sue Wyatt. Sue has provided a range of HR services to Fonterra, including Acting HR Manager and member of the Fonterra Innovation Executive Team throughout a particularly challenging period. Sue’s expert advice was critical to ensuring that Fonterra was able to undertake a major restructure of its innovation function involving over 400 personnel. Unfortunately this exercise not only involved the complete reorganisation of staff into new groups, but also a significant number of redundancies. The difficulty of this task was amplified by a simultaneous pan-Fonterra restructure of the whole business. This put a huge strain on Corporate HR and as such Sue and her team had very limited support from the corporate centre. Despite being under immense time pressure Sue and the team delivered and we were able to complete the restructure within our target timeframes.
More recently Sue has led the HR stream of a smaller, but very significant restructure of regulatory and food assurance functions in Fonterra, involving staff in Singapore, China and New Zealand. Sue’s expertise was key to enabling this restructure to go smoothly.
Sue demonstrates strong leadership and has a broad expertise base that enables her to provide value in all strategic and operational aspects of HR management. I am confident that Sue will be an asset to any organisation that engages her services.”
Kevin Ross Chief Executive Wanganui District Council
The Wanganui District Council entered into a partnership arrangement with Harding Wyatt Consultants (HWC) Limited in December 2006. At the time, Council was seeking the development of a strategic Human Resources (HR) programme and operational support following the departure of a long serving Council Personnel Officer. We had been seeking an appropriate HR partner for some time but had not been able to source a suitable firm with a sufficient depth of personnel able to service us from a relatively close location.
Since engagement, HWC has been involved on a variety of projects ranging from the development and introduction of the strategic HR Plan down to providing operational support when needed. Some of the tasks undertaken by HWC include:
- Developing HR Strategic Plans.
- Introduced a new remuneration strategy.
- A review of all position descriptions
- Coaching and mentoring Senior Management Team.
- Mentoring Chief Executive.
- Recruitment and support of new HR Manager.
- Strategic input into Senior Management Team.
- Development of internal HR capability.
- Development of an internal Leadership Programme.
- Development of a Performance Development Framework.
- Union negotiation support.
HWC has provided a variety of appropriately qualified personnel to undertake these tasks, ably led by Sue Wyatt, a Director of the Company. Sue has provided leadership and support to the organisation with a style that is both professional and challenging. She is a very good strategic thinker and has been able to tailor programmes to match the profile of the organisation. She can be firm and persuasive, when needed, but is also pragmatic, which has always ensured a desired result is achieved. Sue also has a welcome sense of humour, which she uses to her advantage in many difficult situations.
Where appropriate, HWC has also recommended other professionals for particular areas of work and these, too, have proved outstanding and added value to the work being undertaken by HWC.
The impact that HWC has had on the organisation has been significant and will be long-lasting. Their work has been aligned to our business objectives and the return on investment has been very worthwhile. In particular, the leadership development programme, although still in its infancy, has added new energy and perspectives to management within the organisation. This will serve the Council and the individuals, themselves, very well into the future.
I certainly have no hesitation in recommending HWC to any organisation seeking to develop and challenge their staff and look forward to continuing our relationship with the firm long-term.
Geoff Evans General Manager Gasnet Limited
With the establishment of Gasnet Limited in 2008, came the need to make our own arrangements for HR support. Based on the recommendation of one of its existing clients, Harding Wyatt Consultants Limited were engaged to provide specialist HR support. This has proven to be a very successful arrangement. We have found Harding Wyatt Consultants to be professional and a pleasure to deal with. Following the decision to establish the new company (Gasnet) they have been responsive to our needs in ensuring that our business needs are met. They have assisted us on a range of HR matters in addition to undertaking a comprehensive audit of our existing systems and then subsequently working with us on a prioritized action plan. I have no hesitation in recommending Harding Wyatt Consultants to others.
